Obama tells Russians, “wait till I’m reelected” on missile defense, nuclear weapons

President Barack Obama was overheard telling Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to give him “space” until after November when he would be able to get more things done.

 

“Obama can be heard telling the Russian leader: “This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility.” He went on to say: “On all these issues, but particularly on missile defense…this can be solved, but it’s important for him to give me some space.”

It is unclear what the president meant by more flexibility. Critics have speculated the president could possibly attempt to circumvent Congress and the constitutional process after the election since he no longer has the need to worry about re-election prospects.
